Ximena Oña Serrano

Ximena Oña Serrano is an expert Spanish instructor with over 30 years of experience sharing the joys of language learning with her students.

A lifelong resident of Quito, Ecuador, Ximena (pronounced HEE-men-a) holds a licenciatura (bachelor’s degree equivalent) in Educational Psychology and Vocational Guidance from the Universidad Central de Ecuador. While there, she also studied six semesters towards a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Over the course of her Spanish-language education career, Ximena has taught children and adults in small and large group settings though she now specializes in one-on-one classes. She’s an expert at tailoring lessons to the level and needs of each student. Whether you’re planning to vacation, conduct business, volunteer abroad, or something else entirely, Ximena is ready to work with you to achieve your goals.

Besides teaching, Ximena’s hobbies include cooking, playing soccer (or football, if you’re so inclined), singing, and dancing – specifically salsa and Andean folk dances. She also enjoys the simple act of conversation and is happy to discuss topics such as politics, culture, art, and history with her students.
