Learn Spanish Cienfuegos

“Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Cloud Forest School!  With arguably one of the best views in Costa Rica, the CFS campus sits on one of the world’s most diverse and fragile forest ecosystems, looking out onto the Gulf of Nicoya and enjoying the splendor of Costa Rican flora and fauna.  Through project-based learning and a focus on environmental education, our unique bilingual learning community provides local and international students the opportunity for self-discovery on a shared journey towards a more sustainable future.

Preparing young people for a world that we cannot begin to envision presents a profound challenge to educators across the globe.  Since our inception in 1991, the CFS has sought to support and develop a social and environmental consciousness that our students can rely on long after their time with us.   As the world continues to change at a rapid pace, we at the CFS seek to model for our students exactly what it is that we seek to inspire: creativity.

The goal of the CFS is to support our students in leading healthy, fulfilling lives as socially responsible, resilient, and active citizens of the world.  Our charge is to engage every student in their own learning and to maximize the potential of each child – looking beyond the intellect and seeing the individual as a whole.

Our teachers are adept at making a student’s learning experience both meaningful and engaging.  By centering learning in the community and around local themes, systems, and content, students develop intrinsic connections to their environment.  As themes and projects cut across disciplines, teachers share the advantage of each other’s expertise while encouraging collaboration among students.  In these settings, teachers take on the role of facilitators and consultants, where they are able to create a truly student-centered environment, and encourage 21st century skill development.

Please explore our website to learn about our programs, history, and people. A visit to our campus is the best way to get to know us!  We welcome you to set up a visit through our external relations department.”
