The newly refurbished Santa Caterina market, which is a 3-minute walk from IH, is not so well-known as the Boqueria, which is the market right on the Ramblas. But it's still a feast for the eyes… and buying your fruit there so much better for your stomach (and the environment) than what comes plastic-wrapped from the supermarket.
Learning some Spanish You want to learn some Spanish…? Try this: go to the market, and see if you can name 10 things you can see on sale (10 of anything, or 10 different fruits, 10 different vegetables…). If you can't, find out what they're called (you've got a pocket dictionary, or ask someone, or just simply read the labels…).
Being curious about it is one way to maximise the amount of language you learn…
