As mid-terms have just passed, the at Allegany College of Maryland is ready to help you improve your grades. Tutoring is FREE and is a great asset for students. Currently, we offer individual, study lab-based and online tutoring. Individual and online tutors are available for a wide range of subjects. Study labs are available for English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. (No appointments are required; students are welcome to visit as often as needed.)
Students may apply for an individual tutor – applications are available in the Student Success Center, Humanities Rooms 58 and 66, or . Students will receive an email once a tutor has been assigned. Until a tutor is assigned, students will be referred to a study lab. Students requesting math tutors must attend at least two study sessions in the Math Study Lab in Humanities, Room 66.
If you are taking a course that requires writing essays, you may want to look into the Writing Center. The Center is located in Humanities, Room 1, and is staffed by experienced professionals and students. Students taking English courses will find the Center helpful in starting the writing process. Staff will offer tips on organization, research, proper citations, and completion of the writing process. Writing Center staff will review your paper and make suggestions on improving it. If the staff member sees frequent writing errors, he/she will offer some advice on correcting the errors.
The Cumberland Study Labs offer a range of available to accommodate your schedule. Free tutoring is also available at the and County Campuses.
Now, in addition to Study Labs and individual tutors, ACM students at all campuses, including early college and online students, now have access to FREE Online Tutoring by visiting . It is available from 10am-4am EST, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. (This is not a typo…4:00 in the morning – 18 hours a day!). Students can log in to work with a live tutor and receive help with math, science, business, writing, and more with a few clicks.
