Instructional Opportunities

Principal Application: If you are interested in becoming a principal of a Newark Public School, visit to learn more about the principal selection process and selection criteria. Internal NPS School-based Instructional Staff Application: If you are a current NPS full-time school-based instructional staff member who is interested in seeking a new position for the 2013-2014 school year, visit the site to create an educator profile and search/apply for vacancies. Please note that this site is only available to current NPS full-time school-based instructional staff members.

You should use this site if you are an internal NPS employee and:

  • Are looking for a new challenge/position
  • Currently work in a school that is slated for closure, consolidation, or becoming a Renew School
  • Are currently in the Educator without a Placement Site (EWPS) pool

Specifically, you should use Talent Match for the following instructional, school-based certificated positions:

  • Administrators, including Vice Principals
  • Guidance Counselors
  • Social Worker II (not CST Social Workers)
  • All teachers, not including but not limited to: PreK-12th grade teachers Special education teachers including inclusion teachers, self-contained special education teachers, resource teachers, crisis teachers, etc.
  • Other school–based staff, including: Technology Coordinator School library media specialist

At this time, the following positions are NOT included in Talent Match, but they may be included in the future. If we add these positions to Talent Match, we will inform the relevant staff.

The following placements will be determined by the central office (and not by school principals) and should NOT included in Talent Match: Attendance counselor, Custodians and other facilities staff, Food Service Workers, Nurses, and Security. In addition, Talent Match will not be supporting applications for positions placed by the Office of Special Education, which include Child Study Team members (CST Social Worker, Learning Disability Teacher Consultant (LDTC), Psychologist, Speech and Language Specialist, Educational Interpreters (i.e., sign language interpreters), Psychologists in Training, and any other district-wide support positions (e.g., audiologists).

If you are interested in applying to be a new full-time classroom teacher in the Newark Public Schools, please visit the Applicants to Teach Newark will be screened for inclusion in a pool of highly qualified teachers who are referred to Newark Public School teaching vacancies. Please note that Teach Newark is only for classroom teaching positions for external candidates (e.g., not current teachers in the Newark Public Schools).
