This is a great resource to ESL and Bilingual Teachers. ELPS stand for English Language Proficiency Standards. The ELPS were approved by the State Board of Education during the school year of 2007-2008. They are part of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) state-required curriculum. The ELPS were created to ensure that ELL students have opportunities to learn English and succeed academically. The state require from teachers to teach the ELPS through content areas to ensure to all ELL students to become English proficient. The ELPS components are in the areas of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
