Testimonials From my Current Cervantes Guitar Students

It is a pleasure to attend Samuel’s classes. He is talented and knowledgeable, explains his subject matter carefully, and directs us to performances or online materials that will help our understanding. His lessons are well-prepared and interesting, and we also have a lot of fun learning! In particular, he makes a great effort to ensure that no-one gets left behind, and is always ready to help anyone if they are having problems, or if they need to catch up on sessions they have missed. David Boadle (Guitar Student at Instituto Cervantes)
Do you like to listen to guitar music and especially of the Flamenco style? Have you ever thought that you could play something like this? If so, you are very lucky because there is a place in Leeds where you can learn playing Flamenco guitar. I was very happy to discover last summer that there is a course of Flamenco guitar at the Cervantes Institute in Leeds and the course I am currently attending has exceeded all my expectations. I had been studying classical guitar at Leeds College of Music quite a while ago but my technique was far from being good when I started the lessons. However, even if you have not been playing guitar at all, our teacher Sam Moore can make difficult things become easy and approachable and slowly I and my classmates started to produce music that sounds like Flamenco and it is only after a few lessons. Sam is a fantastic guitarist and a very talented teacher. His lessons are pleasant and encouraging and the handouts he produces are very informative andhelpful. I will definitely continue to attend the class run by Sam and encourage you to join us at the Cervantes Institute. Dr. Natalia N. Nalivaeva, PhD, DSc  (Guitar Student at Instituto Cervantes)
Teaching flamenco is not an easy task because of the complex rhythms and different forms and the particular right hand techniques required to execute all this cleanly and in time. We have been very lucky to find a young enthusiastic teacher in Samuel Moore. Samuel has been teaching us now for about 6 weeks and I have enjoyed his classes immensely. He is always thoroughly prepared and he has a relaxed and encouraging teaching style with clear teaching objectives that build the student’s understanding step by step with precise instruction to ensure a firm foundation for future progression. He provides further encouragement and information by regular e-mail, which includes clips of guitarists playing the particular forms we are studying and news of future concert opportunities. Peter Saunders (Guitar Student at Instituto Cervantes)
Samuel Moore is the sort of teacher I have been waiting for! He manages to steer a group of aspiring guitar players with limited experience in various genres- classical guitar, folk and blues,-through the elements of flamenco guitar; and each week we scale another foothill on the mountain. Sam’s professional experience enables him to both guide the group through the exercises and monitor each individual player. It’s a good trick to have and it gives us confidence as we learn the mysteries of rasgueo, tresillos and golpe. Sam demonstrates the techniques in class and he provides handouts for home study; together with links to videos of flamenco masters such as Paco Pena and Vicente Amigo in performance. We can only dream! This is an excellent course, and I look forward to the next one. Ken Fackrell (Guitar Student at Instituto Cervantes)
