Welcome to SalsaCraze! We’re excited to have you join us and we hope you have fun learning how to dance to the rhythm of Casino-style salsa.
What is SalsaCraze? SalsaCraze is one of the University of Miami’s largest student organizations. It was founded over a decade ago and our primary objective is to instruct anyone in the ways of salsa dancing. We have a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with a fun-loving, inclusive culture, and our goal is to enable people to implement what they learn relatively quickly while achieving technical mastery of the dance.
What is Casino? Casino is a style of salsa dancing that originated in Cuba. The term rueda is a Spanish word that means “wheel”, and Rueda de Casino is danced in a circular format in which dancers constantly change partners. A cantante, or “caller” will call out dance moves with an associated hand gesture, and the dancers execute the move simultaneously.
When are classes? Wednesday: BankUnited Center Multipurpose Room, also called the Fieldhouse. Entrance is between the two buildings. 7:00-8:00pm Beginners 8:00-9:00pm Intermediate 9:00-10:00pm Advanced
Friday: StormSurge Room, inside the Whitten University Center across from the pool. 6:00-7:00pm Beginners 7:00-8:00pm Intermediate 8:00-9:00pm Advanced
Please arrive 15 minutes early to class to check in or register if it’s your first class.
Come to the Fieldhouse on Wednesday or the StormSurge Room on Friday for your first class. Your first class is Free, then $25 for the semester. Check out for directions. We can’t wait to see you!
