The English alphabet has 26 letters. In the Spanish alphabet, there is only one more actual letter. That makes a total of 27 letters in the Spanish alphabet. The one extra letter that appears in the Spanish alphabet is the ñ. You may be wondering about the ch, ll, and rr. These are not considered letters, they are digraphs (two letters that make a certain sound). Digraphs also exist in English such as the ‘ph’ in ‘phantom’ or, coincidently, in the word ‘alphabet’. In English, ‘ph’ is not included in the alphabet. The same rules apply in Spanish.
