Hola guapos, today we are going to publish our first podcast to improve Spanish pronunciation. Joanna is a Spanish native speaker from Asturias and she chose to read an extract from “La Regenta” a realist novel by Leopoldo Alas y Ureña, also known as Clarín, published in 1884 and 1885. In Vetusta, an imaginary city  identifiable with Oviedo, Ana Ozores, the main character of the work, marries Don Víctor Quintanar, a rich, old and boring man. Her life seems fated never to achieve happiness until Ana lets herself be courted by the province casanova, Álvaro Mesía. Ana represents a frustrated idealism in an hypocrite society. Here it is the short extract from the first chapter that Joanna read for you.   “LA REGENTA LEOPOLDO ALAS «CLARÍN» Capitulo I ‘La heroica ciudad dormía la siesta. El viento Sur, caliente y perezoso, empujaba las nubes blanquecinas que se rasgaban al correr hacia el Norte.
