We’ve been off the PNT for 2 weeks now, recovering and resting, and preparing for what life has in store for us next. After such intense exertion, your body is so thankful to be able to recover and yet somehow you still crave the trail, the simplicity of the lifestyle, the straightforward routine. On the trail everything that is extraneous and superfluous melts away, gets forgotten because there simply isn’t space for it on the trail, on your body or in your mind. Being back in civilization is a weird feeling. So many things are easier (water, cooking, sleeping) but there are so many more issues and distractions that all of a sudden seem more important than they should be.

I’ve decided to make a short list of things I learned, things I’m glad I did or mistakes I made so that I can look back and plan for my next hike! Without further ado:

– Efficient rain gear is worth it!

I know I’m spacing out on many more things, but I’ll update and sneak them in as they come to me.

Benzo is off on another one of his crazy adventures as well. He’s hanging out with his family in the Olympic Peninsula then going back to Maine for a few weeks before heading down to the South Pole to work! I had no idea you could get jobs down there. He’ll be doing some carpentry work, saving up and then traveling around. Excited to hear about his adventures as they happen. Who knows, maybe another thru hike is in the cards for all of us!

Till next time!

Nacho
