It’s clearly the month for dinosaurs: here in the UK, CBeebies has just launched a couple of new prehistoric-focused TV shows, while from the US, has a new dino app.

“This essential dinosaur collection will not only help kids build reading skills, but will also encourage the exploration of life science and natural history through discovery, play and reading,” claims its App Store listing.

“Through the letters of the alphabet, your child will learn about 26 dinosaurs by touching and feeding them, x-raying them, discovering dinosaur facts and more.”

The app, which includes English and Spanish language options, is aimed at 3-6 year-olds, with a strong science focus as well as its reading and alphabetical aspects.

It looks well-presented, with colourful dinosaurs, lots of facts and – in a future update – the ability for kids to spell their own names using dino-letters.

on Apple’s App Store, although as parents you can also choose to buy extra dinosaurs packs for £0.69 each as in-app purchases.

For now, two are available: Big Dinosaurs Pack includes a T-Rex, while Horned, Armored & Crested Pack includes a Triceratops. Four more will follow soon: packs for Carnivores, Winged & Feathered, In the Water and Surprise.
