records. It s been doing great considering i am a new label, and i am quite happily surprised to see the CD sales were good considering the times we live in. The digital sales also were quite promising and i am looking forward to continuing on with the label and releasing all the artists who have put their faith in the label. The overall sound of my last album is psychedelic morning trance. I collaborated with a lot of great artists and the result is very interesting and powerful. [ Radio Schizoid ] We are eagerly expecting your upcoming release with Space Tribe .. What can your fans expect from the new EP? [ Max ] The new EP with Space Tribe is called ‘JUST SAY YES!”, which is one of the 2 tracks on there. It includes “Just Say Yes!” and “Peak Experience” (Kailash mix) which is a different mix than the one which came out on my album in June.Just say yes, is filled with electric guitars performed live by John Klein, the guitarist from the band “THE SPECIMEN” which olli wisdom akaSpace tribe is part of since the early 80′s.Expect the best of both of us on this EP, lots of psychedelia! [ Radio Schizoid ] You are involved with many projects ( Sirius Isness / Mad Maxx / Wild Monkeys ) and also manage “UnitedBeat Records ” .. How do you manage all these? [ Max ] Yes i am a part of all of these projects, plus i have my own Chillout project called the Bohemian. Honestly i have no life and no time to dedicate to hobbies and things which have nothing to do with music. On top of all of this, i need to take care of my bookings and flights and be places all the time, so i work a lot on the road. But things are doing well on all fronts, and i think hard work usually pays off. But i can t wait for my few days of vacation coming up in GOA this year! [ Radio Schizoid ] What motivates you to make music ( escpecially psytrance ) ..What keeps you going? [ Max ] First of all, the main motivation is the love i have for music, which will always be there. Even if i had a normal job,i would still put as much time as possible aside in my life to make music. As far as psytrance goes, i am motivated to make it because i love what it creates in me and in other people. It s a great way to explore new avenues in music making and to be really diligent about production. I feel that psytrance is always pushing the envelope creatively even though a lot of artists have stayed stuck in their ways, the music is very original by nature. This is also why it has remained fairly underground for all these years. [ Radio Schizoid ] Where do you think the psytrance scene is headed.. [ Max ] Honestly i think it s headed towards more psychedelic sounds and less commercial tracks. People have had enough of the radio pop remixes and in my opinion, it doesn’t really have it s place in a scene where the essence of it is to be able to let go from that, and to go into deeper states of consciousness. Unfortunately, there has been an influx of mediocre music in the last 4 or 5 years, which hasdevaluated the scene a bit. A lot of new producers emerged from the technology boom we had, and now music making has become a household commodity. It s up to the listeners and promoters to make the difference now, between a quality track and something with no soul. [ Radio Schizoid ] There has been many debates over physical vs. digital release. Whats your take on this issue ? [ Max ] Yes, there have been, and ever since i have opened my new label, i have been dealing with this dilemma.In my opinion, from personal experience, the digital is the only way out from poor sales. CD’s are dead, and will soon become a collector’s thing.Costs of production for a cd are much higher than the profits which it can possibly generate, making it a real pain for labels to manufacture.My resolution for this new year, is to be a strictly digital label, and if an artist really wants to make a cd, he will be taking on the costs himself. [ Radio Schizoid ] Tell us about your future plans / collaborations /work . [ Max ] Future plans track wise for MAD MAXX are many single tracks released on my new label as digital ep’s. I have in the making a few tracks with Chromatone, one remix of Alien Project and Astrix of the track Crystal Skulls, one Vibrasphere remix, and some miscellaneous other things on the burner including a new on with Space tribe and XSI together.For Wild Monkeys, my new project with XSI, our album will be released on 3 separate ep’s starting January 15th 2012.In mid January, i have one more cd coming out, from my chillout project, which is a remix album of all Mexican Mariachi tracks. It has nothing to do with the trance circuit, and will be released world wide by a major mexican label. [ Radio Schizoid ] You have played in various parties / festivals across the world..Please share some crazy / unforgettable party experience with radio schizoid listeners. [ Max ] Well, once in Mexico about 4 years ago, i was booked at a party which didn t happen in the end.I was with thewhole Utopia records crew, and all of us in the same hotel. I was the lonely one to speak spanish since i have been living in hispanic countries for the last 10 years.So basically, everything started fine, until we cough on that he wasn’t going to pay us, and that there was basically no party whereever it was supposed to happen. So he tried to get all of us to go there, but we would nt budge before we got paid, which is a very usual story in trance. However it started to get weird when we got a call that they were threatening to come to the hotel and take care of this situation, but not in a friendly way. All of us decided to escape from the hotel, but as we engaged in leaving the rooms, we had a buck of security guards form the hotel block our doors and we were stuck until we paid for all of the rooms. In the end, no one had any local money on them except me and one other artist. So i ended up paying up for all the rooms and all the room service, so we could escape to the airport andbe somewhat in a safe haven. I later saw pictures of the party, and there were about 10 people, in front of a destroyed structure with 2 cdj’s and 4 home made speakers. It looked like a nightmare and of course a trap to get all our gear and money stolen.Moral of the story, always get paid everything in advance, and check out who is booking you thoroughly. And learn some spanish …. [ Radio Schizoid ] When do we see you in India again? [ Max ] I m here! I just played in Sunburn Festival this end of 2011!
