Students in area counties benefit from an exciting field trip to Historic Spanish Point. They learn about the prehistoric and pioneer past of southwest coastal Florida through a unique program. Featuring costumed docents, a weaving project, storytelling, a guided tour of the historic site, and even a hands-on archaeological dig, this entertaining and educational program supports the state’s curriculum for social studies, grade level equivalency, FCAT testing, and Florida Writes!
To prepare students for their trip, each receives a handbook about either the prehistoric people of our area, or the pioneers who settled at Historic Spanish Point. These fun guidebooks are published by the museum. Teachers receive support materials for pre-trip lessons and post-trip follow up. Kids are even given the chance to place a Museum Store order for items related to their studies and eat a picnic pizza lunch.
Rates: $6.00 per student / $7.00 per parent chaperone / Teachers free (Pizza lunch $5.00 additional per student/chaperone)
