WHAT WE DO Speak Up provides an immediate response to a human need: a dignified employment opportunity and a way to integrate back into society. Speak Up Zine is a unique publication that is written by people who are in transition or vulnerably-housed. Every sale gives them a voice and allows their stereotype-breaking story to be shared. Speak Up Entrepreneurs (“vendors”) practice micro-business ownership. They buy copies of Speak Up and resell them, keeping all the cash. This concept builds a cycle of enterprise, savings, accountability and self worth.
