Seventh Grade Social Studies
Curriculum areas for 7th grade social studies will focus on the study of Eastern Hemisphere World History (Africa, Asia, Europe and the Pacific Rim). Historic, economic, geographic and civic concepts are also included within the study of each region. Reading, writing and vocabulary skills will continually be reinforced throughout the year. Additionally students will learn and develop new strategies for analyzing primary sources, identifying bias and writing persuasive papers.
Students are required and expected to follow the Dearborn Public Schools Code of conduct and adhere to the Core Values of our district, including arriving on time, being respectful to other students and following all classroom and school rules. Students will be responsible for completing and turning in on time bellwork, classroom work, homework and projects. As your students teacher I will strive to teach in an interactive and collaborative environment that encourages student participation. Your students grade will be a combination of formative and summative work. Summative work (like a quiz, test or project) is worth 80% of a student’s grade, and Formative work (like bellwork, homework, or classwork) is worth 20% of a student’s grade. Organization is a key element to success inside of the social studies classroom. Please help me to keep your student on task and up to date on current and past assignments. A current list of work can be found my blog that can be accessed throughthe district’s website or by typing in the following web address:
