Learn Spanish With Elmo

Music is in the blood of every Cuban. Cuba is truly a musical country, even in the way Cubans speak, they sound like they are singing to each other. There are many musicians in Trinidad and we can offer a few different options, depending on your interest and budget. We can arrange a 1 day workshop or private tuition with David López Carabito and  / or other local musicians.

David López Carabito, from Trinidad, is an internationally renowned musician; he has attended cultural events in Canada and is a talented and professional instructor of Percussion Instruments. He gives private tuition of the Tumbadora / Congos, Maracas, Guiro, Clave, Chequere and Bongo.

We can also arrange Guitar or Piano lessons with other local musicians.

TRINIDAD

During David’s 1 day workshop you’ll be introduced to different percussion instruments and taught the basic rhythmic movements. You’ll get to hear him play, feel the music and get the opportunity to play the instruments. This is a group workshop, usually 2-3 hours long, depending on the size of the group. The workshop is held at Casa de la Música.

HAVANA

We offer Percussion Instrument lessons with a professional teacher and musician; a Professor of Percussion at the Humbolt State University in California. As a musician he has been a member of many bands throughout his professional career, he has worked with various choreographers and taken part in a number of carnivals in Havana and Matanzas. Lessons take place in Havana and are for a minimum of 2 hours.

We can also organise Percussion Instrument / Music lessons with El Conjunto Folklorico Nacional in Havana and Los Muñequitos de Matanzas in Matanzas.
