This course meets five hours each week during seven weeks of each session (click here to see the ). The course develops students’ test taking skills for the TOEFL examination. Course objectives include: Familiarizing the students with the format and directions of the test; Familiarizing them with the types of questions that are asked in each section; Identifying the weak areas of each student; and Developing the English language skills that are necessary to be successful on the test. Please note that this course alone does not satisfy the requirements for meeting the minimum hours of study required on a student visa. Most students in the TOEFL preparation course are also enrolled in the Intensive English Program and meet the requirements necessary to obtain a student visa. Emphasis is placed on listening comprehension, grammar, and reading comprehension. The objectives are addressed through exercises that are designed to develop specific areas of English and test taking skills, as wellas through practice TOEFL tests. The International Internet-Based TOEFL (IBT) exam is offered at the University of Delaware as well as in nearby Philadelphia and Baltimore.
