Sites To Learn Spanish Online

Streaming Classical Guitar Radio and Spanish Guitar Music Radio

There are dozens of Spanish guitar music radio stations online and free to air. Here you will find a list not in any particular order – and only a small sample as a little taster. These are radio stations that devote their air time to playing Spanish guitar music and classical Spanish guitar music.

Classical Guitar at Sky FM

Found this really good as the page is clearly laid out – no confusion – gives you a nice selection of photos plus a track history to go with the photos. This ten-track history gives you a good idea of the kind of Spanish guitar music that they play. A nice mixture plus Spanish songs and tracks are also played in full.

Flamenco.ca/music.asp

This station seems to play the real Flamenco. Plenty of guitar here plus authentic flamenco singers and singing. Also you’ll find lots of links to Flamenco concerts and festivals. The station shows three recently played Flamenco songs.

Spanish Guitar Music Radio – Last.fm

When I listened they played a more middle of the road style Spanish guitar instrumental pieces but nevertheless nice and relaxing – (last.fm – The Spanish Guitar) plays a selection of similar artists. Last.fm also played all through the  track when I listened. Thought last.fm didn’t do this with all playlists

Flamenco Guitar Radio:

No playlist here – but a control deck. Paco de Lucia was playing Rumba Improvisada from the album Antologio Volume 1 when I listened. The whole track was played with a nice photo of the artist above the controls which made you feel that the artist was playing in front of you – nice touch. Very Spanish and very Flamenco – great! What is says on the tin – what I heard was instrumental solo Flamenco guitar by some of the best players – fantastic!

Grooveshark.com

Grooveshark opened with a Windows style media browser and opened with the famous guitar instrumental the traditional Spanish Romance (Romanza) which most classical/Spanish players learn at some time in their career. A song list was given to choose from and although the site was initially confusing you were able to construct a playlist once you realized track selections could jump to the bottom of the screen. You could also click on the playlists constructed by others. You had to be careful here though as it was easy to move away from the Spanish guitar music style quite quickly. I think that if you get familiar with the system you could get more satisfaction than I did.  All instrumental guitar but there were some ensembles too.

Some of the other Spanish Guitar Players I got to hear:

Al di Meola/Mediterranean Sundance – TheGypsy Kings cropped up a lot – John Williams of course playing Morricone  – Paco De Lucia – Carlos Barbosa Lima (South American) – G Geissman – Alex Fox – Don Foss – Jesse Cook – Lara and Reyes – even Steve Howe from Yes the famous British Prog band.
