Teacher Biographies
Hi! My name is Laura Hobbs and this is my second year here at North Ridge. I was lucky enough to enter North Ridge as an Intervention Teacher in the spring of 2011, working with third through fifth graders, and last year I taught 3rd grade. This year will be my first year teaching 1st grade and I am looking forward to an amazing year!
I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!) in December, 2010, with a degree in Elementary Education. I am from Greensboro, where my family has been for about ten years. I have two sisters, one is my identical twin and the other is our younger sister who will be a junior at N.C. State. I love having both of my sisters back in the same city! After graduating, I moved to Raleigh when I began working at North Ridge. My grandmother was a teacher and a librarian, my mom is a 5th grade teacher, and my twin sister is a Kindergarten teacher. I guess you could say teaching runs in the family!
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love being near the water; the beach is my favorite! I also enjoy a running, traveling, and taking lots of pictures.
Again, I am looking forward to a great year and I am so happy to be a part of the North Ridge family!
Hi, I’m Vicki Parker and I am so happy to be returning to North Ridge as a 1st grade teacher! The students, parents, administration and staff at North Ridge are amazing and I love being part of the NRE family. I know that we will have an exciting and productive year as we work together in our classroom community to grow as learners.
I am a graduate of the Masters in Teaching program at Meredith College and I also have a BS in Business Administration from Meredith College. Go Angels! My husband Yates and I have two children, Harrison, a student at NCSU and Lindsay, a high school student. Our family also includes our dog, Zoey. I enjoy walking, bike rides, going to Kure Beach, snow skiing, gardening and reading!
Hi! My name is Sydney Sauers and this is my second year at North Ridge. I am thrilled to be on the first grade team! I grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with my parents and two younger brothers.
I graduated from Meredith College with a B.S. in Child Development and with a Kindergarten-Sixth grade licensure. Raleigh has quickly become my home! In my free time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, laughing with my friends, and visiting the beach!
My name is Jennifer Ligon and I am so excited to be your child’s first grade teacher! This is my second year teaching first grade at North Ridge. I earned my M.A. in teaching from NC State in 2014, and North Ridge is where I completed my student teaching. I loved being a North Ridge Unicorn so much that I never left! I live in Raleigh with my husband, Joshua and two very large, lazy cats named Delilah and Oscar. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching movies, visiting museums, and traveling. I am looking forward to having an awesome school year!
Hello, students and families! My name is Christine Robertson. I have been teaching at North Ridge Elementary since the 2010-2011 school year. I am thrilled to be on the first grade team and am looking forward to another amazing school year!
I attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington where I received both my Bachelors in Elementary Education and my Masters in Reading. I was married in the summer of 2013 to my husband who is also a teacher! In my time away from school I enjoy cooking, reading, walking my dog Penny, visiting the beach, and spending time with friends and family.
I am delighted to be part of the North Ridge family and I look forward to getting to know your family.
Hello! My name is Tori Ashby and I am honored to be a first grade teacher at North Ridge Elementary. Before coming to North Ridge, I taught second grade in Winston Salem, NC where I grew up. I am very excited about being a part of the first grade team and look forward to the amazing year ahead! I can’t wait to see all of the exciting things that we can discover and learn together.
I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2013 with a degree in Elementary Education. It was at Appalachian that I discovered my calling as an educator. I love the teaching profession and spending my days helping students learn! Outside of school, my husband, Will and I enjoy being outside and going on walks with our dog, Boone. We also really enjoy traveling, watching movies, and spending time with our families.
