Languages are part of the cultural richness of our society and the world we live and work in.
The opportunity to learn a language contributes to mutual understanding, a sense of global citizenship and personal fulfilment. Through studying a language pupils are given the chance to learn to appreciate different countries, cultures, communities and people. By making comparisons they gain insight into their own culture and society. This enables them to understand about the world they are part of as well as the ability to understand and communicate in another language being a lifelong skill for education, employment and leisure in both this country and throughout the world.
