Learn Spanish Blackheath

Spanish I Students gain an elementary level of competency in listening, speaking, reading and writing during this course.  They will learn a great deal of vocabulary and begin to learn the grammatical structure of the language.  Students will engage in basic conversation involving the study of family and home life, as well as sports and school activities.  These students will develop basic communicative writing skills through creative writing practice.  An important component of this program is experiencing cultural aspects while learning about the people, customs, and history of Spanish-speaking countries.

Spanish II In this course students learn a great deal of vocabulary, review grammatical structures from Spanish l, and learn new, more complex grammatical structures of the language.  Focus is placed on reading, listening, speaking, writing, and translating the language.  Students will experience a myriad of creative writing projects.  They will participate in conversational activities designed to develop oral communication skills.

Spanish III This course is suitable for students who have completed Spanish l and Spanish ll.  Students will experience cultural activities using all communicative skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing.  Those studying at this level will develop levels of proficiency, with emphasis on speaking and writing in projects involving the utilization of real life skills.

Introduction to American Sign Language This course introduces students to the basic elements of sign language, deaf culture and conversational signing.  It is recommended for, but not limited to, students for whom English is a second language, as conversational and basic vocabulary is taught, reinforced and practiced.
