We are proud to continue with the Spanish Bilingual Program in Grade 6! Currently we have 171 students attending from Kindergarten to Grade 6. The Spanish Bilingual Program provides students with the opportunity to learn basic skills for speaking, reading, writing, listening and communicating English and Spanish at a young age. Spanish and English are used as the languages of instruction, beginning in Kindergarten or grade 1 and continuing to grade 12. The program is part of the International Spanish Academy sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain and Alberta Education.
Spanish and English content is 50/50. The subjects taught in Spanish are Spanish Language Arts, Mathematics, Physical Education, Music and Art.
REGISTRATION
At the Kindergarten and Grade 1 level, previous Spanish experience is not required and parents are not required to know Spanish. For older grades, testing would have to be arranged to ensure that the child has sufficient knowledge to be successful in the program.
