The Secret World

The Secret World earlier known by the titles of Cabal and The World Online is an upcoming game by Funcom. Other games developed by Funcom are and Anarchy Online. The Secret World will be a MMORPG. Development of the game was confirmed on March 6, 2007, and final title of the project was confirmed on May 11, 2007. Until now, only Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows versions are confirmed. Only multiplayer mode will feature in the game. Even after such a long period of development release dates are not confirmed. The game will feature some unique and original settings created by Funcom. Along with these settings contemporary elements as well as “myths, magic, conspiracies, and dark horrors” are also included in the game. At the time of the announcement of the game, it was states by the Funcom project director Jorgen Tharaldsen that the game engine used in The Secret is same engine used in Age of Conan. In addition, settings of the game will be based on Earth in the present day. From date todate, there were rumors about the game that made it difficult to know about the game. First, it was said about the game that it will not feature any aliens or sci-fi settings. Later in a blog Ragnar Tørnquist producer and director of the game cleared that The Secret has nothing to do with The Longest Journey. Production for the game started back in 2002, but in mid-2003 most of the working team transferred to the development of Dreamfall. Work for TSW resumed only after Dreamfall was shipped. Many of the latter’s designers playing key roles in the former’s development. TSW is developed at Funcom studios in Oslo and Beijing. It was confirmed that the team working on TSW is the same team, which was previously involved in the development of Anarchy Online, Age of Conan, EverQuest II, Dreamfall, and The Longest Journey. In November 2008, Funcom stated that a team of 70 people was working on the project. On January 18, 2009, Tørnquist commented in hi blog that 2009 will be the year whereplayers will learn about the secret world. Speculations of release of games were further dismissed by Eurogamer stating that it was not confirmed whether this means actual release of the game or release of detailed information about the game. Promotion of the game started on May 8, 2007, when a picture was leaked into the internet, containing a poem, a Knights Templar seal, and several sentences in Spanish, French, Norwegian, German and Hebrew. If you solve the riddle the poem will lead you to a series of internet pages one of them with the riddle, and eventually, to the newly created official forum. The websites lead to Flash page with a countdown timer that uses symbols instead of numbers. The timer will presumably reach zero on 12:00 AM on December 21, 2012, adjusted fro the location of Funcom headquarters. Game Server Social Bookmarking
